Mejselektrod ESAB OK 21.03
Electrode for arc gouging and hole punching in all types of steel, cast iron and other metals with the exception of pure copper. The electrode sheath in the OK 21.03 develops a strong gas pressure, which blows away the molten material in front of the arc.
Applications:
The OK 21.03 is suitable for on-site arc gouging and when carbon arc gouging equipment is impractical. OK 21.03 is excellent for joint preparation when repairing cast iron, as it dries out and burns away impurities/graphite on the surface and thus reduces the risk of cracks and pores during welding. Arc gouging and manganese steel is another suitable application.
Welding current:
DC-, AV OCV 70 V
Procedure:
When arc gouging, connect the electrode usually to direct current minus pole or alternating current. Direct current plus pole is recommended for cutting and hole punching. The arc is ignited by holding the electrode perpendicular to the workpiece, after which the electrode must be tilted 15-20°C in relation to the workpiece and pushed forward.
Arc gouging speed 100-150 cm/minute depending on the thickness of the workpiece. If a deep groove is desired, repeat the procedure until the desired depth is achieved. Punching is very easy. Hold the electrode vertically, light the arc and lower the electrode until it cuts through the material. The hole can be enlarged by moving the electrode up and down like a saw. When using OK 21.03 indoors, good ventilation or smoke extraction is necessary.
